Two Section Heat Exchangers
Two-section plate heat exchangers are essential for brewers producing low-temperature fermenting products like lagers and pilsners. They are also useful in areas with warm groundwater. Unlike one-section plate heat exchangers, which only have a water connection, two-section plate heat exchangers have another section that connects to a cooling medium (typically glycol). These plate heat exchangers work as two plate heat exchangers in one: first cooling to city water temperatures (usually around 70°f) and then using the cooling medium to lower temperatures even further (usually around 50°f). This keeps your lager wort cool and crisp, reducing undesirable flavors and impurities.
