Pumps for thicker products like glycerine, aloe Vera gel or concentrates.

Lately we have received many inquiries for pumping thicker products such as glycerine for hand sanitizer production. This will not work well with a standard centrifugal pump as you would use for alcohol, wine or beer as glycerine is too viscous. You will need a positive displacement pump of some design. Luckily there are many different options. Here are three to consider.
If you are pumping in out of barrels then the obvious solution in a progressive cavity gear drive pump like the FLUX F550. These pumps will easily handle this application as the rotor/stator assembly is submersed in the liquid.
If you are pumping larger quantities, or pumping out of something other than a barrel, you might look at a FIP (flexible impeller pump). These pumps have great suction capabilities and handle thick product easily. They come in various sizes and we have them with connections from 1” through 2 ½” and are reversible and variable speed so you can control the flow with just the push of a button.
A third choice would be an AODD (air operated double diaphragm) pump these pumps are fairly inexpensive and portable but they do require quite a lot of compressed air so make sure that you have a good sized air compressor with lots of excess capacity.
I mention glycerine but these pumps would work for many applications, such as aloe Vera gel, shampoo, fruit purees, honey, etc.
I hope this helps, but if you have specific questions please feel free to contact us and we will help you select the correct one for your needs.
